The position refers to the area of Informatics, which at the University of Skövde is defined as the science that addresses how information is represented, processed and communicated in artificial and natural systems, and how such systems are used and developed in order to achieve usable and effective applications and solutions for individuals, organizations or society. The positon has a specialization in the ability to teach and conduct research in modeling and predicting human behavior and interaction with, for example, industrial and humanoid robots and even with virtual agents.
The School of Informatics (IIT) collaborates with the School of Engineering Science (ING) around the growing research area of human-robot interaction and the theme of design, interaction and sustainable development. Two shared research interests are: (i) registering and categorizing human movement using kinematic information and computer vision and (ii) applying this knowledge to develop new products that improve production technology in large industries, e.g. Volvo. These mutual research interests are also being developed in studies of human-robot interaction with humanoid robots.
Specifically, the desired competence of the lecturer will include expertise in, for example, modeling interaction scenarios between humans and robots, signal processing, and using machine learning techniques. It is important that these areas of expertise can be used in interdisciplinary areas of research and education. Experience with applications to industrial contexts such as production and technological development are also highly desired.
The position mainly concerns research and teaching, but additional assignments might be included.
