The School of Health Sciences is seeking a senior lecturer in sport science for a permanent post
The position is within the subject Sport Science with a specialization in Sport Management.
Örebro University has a long tradition of education and research in the field of Sport Science. There are two undergraduate programs (Sports Science and Coaching Programme and Sport Management), Teacher Education Programme and an international master programme (Master in Sports Physiology and Medicine). Currently, sixteen students are enrolled in research education in Sport Sciences. Research is conducted within the research environment RISPA (Research in Sport Science and Physical Activity) with a range of externally funded research projects.
Duties include teaching, supervision and examination in courses in Sport Management, leadership and coaching, scientific methods and other related subjects. The work consists of teaching at all three levels and teaching also includes course development, planning and evaluation. Duties also include research, administration, continuing professional development and third-stream-activities.
The position holder is expected to lead the development of the Sport Management programme and also contribute to the development of research courses and the research environment RISPA at Örebro University.
Eligible for the appointment as senior lecturer are applicants who have demonstrated educational expertise and who have been awarded a doctoral degree in a relevant subject area for the position or possess corresponding research skills or some other professional expertise that are of significance for the position.
For any teaching staff appointments at Örebro University, applicants are expected to have completed courses on teaching and learning in higher education corresponding to ten weeks. If applicable, assessments of corresponding knowledge obtained in any other way will be made.
In assessing whether an applicant is qualified for the appointment as senior lecturer, the extent to which his or her skills and expertise correspond to the eligibility requirements will be evaluated. In the appointment process, equal attention will be paid to the assessment of educational expertise as to the assessment of other qualifications required to meet the eligibility requirements. The applicant’s research expertise shall be demonstrated through independent research contributions. The educational expertise and qualifications shall be well-documented and accounted for in a teaching portfolio.
In assessing the applicants’ educational expertise, attention will be paid to their experience in terms of planning, carrying out and evaluating teaching, supervision and examination.
The duties require communicative skills, both in writing and in speech, in Swedish and English.
The position is a full-time, permanent post and is based in Örebro university. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period.
