The School of Health Sciences at Örebro University offers a great range of professional degree programmes at the undergraduate and Master’s levels; and at the research level, a number of doctoral study programmes. In addition, an exciting process for development of our study programmes is underway. Research is pursued into people’s possibilities and needs in connection with health and disease. Both education and research is undertaken in close cooperation with public healthcare services.
Örebro University and public healthcare provider Region Örebro County are collaborating for the development of the healthcare, research and education offered at Örebro University Hospital and associated healthcare centres in the region. A significant component of this collaboration is the long-standing and fruitful cooperation on education and research shared by the School of Health Sciences, Örebro University, and Region Örebro County. As part of this collaboration, a joint investment is now underway into combined appointments within disciplines where a need for development has been identified. This position as senior lecturer involves clinical practice as a primary healthcare nurse at either Brickebacken Primary Healthcare Centre or Kumla Primary Healthcare Centre.
The position is in nursing science.
The duties and responsibilities of a senior lecturer mainly involve teaching at the undergraduate and Master’s levels, as well as on the doctoral study programme. Teaching includes supervision and examinations. Moreover, the position involves research, development work, administration, continuing professional development, and, possibly, management duties. Duties also include collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to the regular clinical duties, the clinical practice components include identifying the need for development work, as well as supervising and training staff and students in consultation with those concerned within the clinical operations in question. Management duties within healthcare, research and education may also be included.
You will play an important role in developing operations and healthcare, in both theory and practice, at the University but also within Region Örebro County.
Those qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer are applicants who have demonstrated teaching expertise and have been awarded a doctoral degree in the subject area or have the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.
A general eligibility requirement for teaching staff appointments at Örebro University is that the candidate has completed courses on teaching and learning in higher education corresponding to 10 weeks. If applicable, assessments will be made of equivalent knowledge and experience that have been obtained in other ways.
For the clinical practice, experience of clinical work as a registered primary healthcare nurse, as well as well-documented knowledge and skills in primary healthcare are required.
The assessment criteria for appointment as a senior lecturer shall be the degree of the expertise required to qualify for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of the research and teaching expertise as to the assessment of other qualifying criteria.
Candidates’ research expertise shall be demonstrated through independent research contributions and continued scientific publishing following the award of their doctoral degree. Importance shall also be attached to candidates’ establishment in the research community as well as to candidates’ experience of planning, managing and leading their own research.
Pursuing active research within the subject area is considered a qualification of particular importance. A research profile that is adequate for the respective department operations and supplements current research activities as well as strengthens the development of the healthcare, research and education offered at the University Hospital is considered a qualification of particular importance.
In assessing the applicants’ teaching expertise, attention will be paid to any previous experience in terms of planning, carrying out and evaluating teaching, and of supervision and examination. Applicants shall be able to account for their teaching outlook and approach and have the ability to reflect on their own pedagogical development as well as on the teacher’s role.
An adequate postgraduate diploma in specialist nursing is considered a qualification of particular importance.
The applicant shall demonstrate such personal characteristics required to perform the duties and responsibilities at hand, to cooperate with other members of staff, and to contribute to the development of the operations. The duties and responsibilities involved in a combined appointment require significant adaptability and a sound ability to interact and cooperate in various operations and contexts. The nature of the work also requires the position holder to pursue – on their own initiative, proactively and with a solutions focus – development issues relevant to the different operations involved.
Since language is one of your most important tools for student and patient participation, we assume that you have good communicative skills in Swedish and English.The duties and responsibilities reguires that you are able to speak without difficulty, write and understand the Swedish language (minimum C1).
The position is full-time and until further notice. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period.
