The department of Electrical Engineering (ISY) is central to the engineering education at the Institute of Technology, one of four faculties at Linköping University, and this regards both basic and applied knowledge. The research is based on industrial needs, and ranges from basic research to direct application in collaboration projects.

Hereby advertises a position as

PhD student in Integrated Circuits and Systems 
formally based at the Department of Electrical Engineering

This research project addresses some of the key design challenges for next generation avionics systems. The objective is to develop a System-on-Chip platform, capable to support the drastically increasing need for high-performace sensor interface and sensor signal processing. The project is expected to generate highly innovative circuits and systems solutions to be designed in advanced CMOS technologies, combined with supporting sub-system to be developed using FPGA, measured, verified and published in top international journals and conferences in the field.

As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research. As a PhD student you are limited to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.

Your future workplace
The research work will be performed at Division of Integrated Circuits and Systems ( at Department of Electrical Engineering in Linköping University. The group has more than 40 years of experience in design of advanced integrated circuits, and in close collaboration with major semiconductor companies and academic research organizations worldwide.

Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.

§  General requirement: M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering.

§  Specific requirements: The applicant is expected to meet the following requirements:

o  Demonstrate documented strong background knowledge and skills in design of analog and digital integrated circuits in advanced CMOS technologies, FPGA design, as well as good background knowledge in processor architectures and digital signal processing.

o  Have good knowledge and practical skills in circuit design, circuit simulations, and circuit layout, using professional computer aided circuit design tools.

o  Strong communication skills and good knowledge in English is a requirement. Good knowledge in Swedish is not a formal requirement but it will be considered as an additional merit.

Appointment time
The first appointment will be until further notice for a maximum of one year. The employment can be extended with at maximum two years at a time. A doctoral student may not be employed during a period exceeding eight years. The total time of appointment must not exceed the equivalent of four years´ full time research training.

Starting date 
By agreement.

The salary for PhD students is based on the department’s salary scale.
