The Division of nursing conducts education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, doctoral education and research within the field of nursing. Approximately 100 teachers/researchers and administrators are employed and some 20 doctoral students registered. The division is in an expansive phase regarding education as well as research.
The division is seeking a qualified senior lecturer/associate senior lecturer with a strong commitment to lead and develop education and research with a focus on nursing science. In the position as a Senior Lecturer you are expected to develop and strengthen the education provided by the division and linking it towards recent research within the field of nursing. The position also includes teaching, course responsibilities, academic supervision and examination of thesis on bachelor and advanced levels.
Formal combination of academic and clinical work in Stockholm County Council may be considered.
All senior lecturers at Karolinska Institutet must demonstrate scientific as well as pedagogical competence. A PhD degree is a basic requirement. The applicant should haveor be close to achieve qualifications equivalent of a docent at KI.
The applicant should also have a degree in nursing or other professional degree in health care and have completed basic university teaching. The position requires university pedagogical training: documented experience of coordinating education, teaching and supervision within the nursing program on different academic levels. Experience of pedagogical and educational development and course responsibility is highly meritorious. The position further involves internal and external collaborations and we will therefore highly value team working skills and flexibility. Furthermore experience of working in/towards national and international committees is an advantage.
The employment is announced as Senior lecturer, but in the event that no candidate fulfills the Senior Lecturer/Docent criteria, the top candidate can be employed as Associate Senior Lecturer with a possible conversion to Senior Lecturer once the set criteria have been accomplished. The successful application for Docentur must have been submitted within three years from commencing the employment as Associate Senior Lecturer, for the possible conversion to take place. The qualification requirements for Associate Senior Lecturers are a Degree of Doctor and good pedagogical credentials as defined by the Regulations for Docentur at KI (including 5 weeks of training in university-level teaching and 120 hours of teaching).
The work tasks may change over time and will be designed and adapted based on the applicants qualifications and interests but also to the needs of the division.
Bases of assessment
The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: educational expertise (3), research expertise (2), leadership development and collaboration expertise (1).
